XAMPP is an easy to install Apache Web Server distribution that includes PHP and the MySQL database. All you have to do is download it from their site, for free, and install it on your machine by following a friendly wizard that guides you through the process. Why is XAMPP free? It’s free because Apache, PHP and MySql are part of the open source community which encourages the distribution and betterment of free software. If you need an administrator for your MySql database, you can get the MySQL GUI Tools which includes the Administrator, Query Browser, and Migration Toolkit. MySQL GUI Tools is also open source and thus free for you to download and install. All the tools are available for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX.
